25 years ago Ann and I moved back to my hometown of Ocean Park, WA, after graduating from the American Academy of Art in Chicago. We had idealized dreams of making a living as a watercolor artist. Idealized it was! With expecting our first child, Nate, we were under the gun to bring in an income. I remember finding some brown paint in the shed behind our rustic gallery along with the plywood bottom of a wood boat. I slapped the words “Watercolor Paintings” on the odd shape, propped it up out on the road, and opened the doors for business.
Since those days numerous paintings have become an integral addition to beautiful homes of many faithful collectors. Our family has grown to five beautiful children who have delighted in exploring the beach. Not only have I been able to pursue a career I find rewarding and challenging, but we have made many wonderful friends through the gallery and countrywide workshops. Gratefully, Ann and I look back at a dream realized only by God’s grace.
