I used masa – a Japanese rice paper – for this one, giving it an interesting batik-like look. I use a simple technique to achieve this effect. I wet the paper using a spray bottle of water. Then I carefully crinkle the delicate paper. I flatten it back out and start painting. The creases that remain create the texture I am aiming for.
