The winter months in so many places are about Christmas lights and decorations. Store windows are full of those special gifts for that special someone. Winter on the Long Beach Peninsula includes the customary traditions but then there are winter storms and the provisions from the ocean that add to the life of the locals.
Winter storms on the Peninsula are a part of the landscape. We watch the storms change the appearance of the beaches as a result of the Pacific Ocean’s angry waves. There is something invigorating about storm watching. It has its own beauty and energy.
In Storm Surf at Cape Disappointment, I wanted to capture the beauty and energy of a storm at Waikiki Beach as I was looking up at Cape Disappointment Lighthouse. Not only was it invigorating to paint but it was exhilarating capturing it through lens of the camera. – Eric
