My friend has a pond in the woods that he visits as often as he can. Family picnics, celebrations and camp outs are done year round thanks to a cozy open-ended building. To prepare for this painting, I visited the pond with my friend, so he could show me the view he preferred. I photographed and sketched the scene, and then worked on a one color study in the studio. Most of the painting emerged fairly quickly from my brushes. A good capture of a tranquil pond hidden from a nearby, country road.

I like the peaceful feeling created by the reflections and stillness of the water adjacent to the textures of the trees. Well done!
I like the blue green in the area of interest.
Agree on brushwork – nice variety of textures.
I really enjoy the trees in the background using the white of the paper. A great example of less is more!
